Legal review notice
This policy is an operational draft based on the platform's current workflows and the official guidance linked below where applicable. It is not legal advice. My Tax Pros should have qualified counsel confirm the legal entity name, state-specific duties, consumer-rights process, billing language, and liability provisions before treating it as the final legal instrument.
1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to My Tax Pros Networking (My Tax Pros), mytaxprosnetworking.com, and the related website, account, directory, tax-help, Academy, event, marketplace, customer, member, and partner services that link to this Policy. It does not govern an independent tax professional's separate practice, website, client portal, engagement, or privacy practices.
My Tax Pros is a professional network and technology platform. It is not the Internal Revenue Service or another government agency, and it is not the tax return preparer for consumers who use the platform. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to tax@mytaxpros.net. Do not include taxpayer records or sensitive taxpayer information in the message.
2. Personal information we collect
Account and identity information may include your name, email address, authentication identifiers, account status, role, profile photo, preferred language, city, state, and other information you choose to add to a customer, member, or partner profile.
Service and professional information may include a privacy-safe tax-help summary, requested service, general location, service mode, language preference, saved professionals, request status, matching and response activity, member or partner application information, professional credentials or identifier fragments, business information, directory content, course activity, event activity, support requests, inquiries, and marketplace requests.
Transaction information may include membership or course plan, price, subscription status, checkout, payment, invoice, and provider transaction identifiers. Payment providers process payment-card details under their own privacy terms; My Tax Pros does not need or intend to store complete payment-card numbers.
Technical and security information may include session and authentication cookies, device and browser information, timestamps, audit events, security signals, error information, and similar records needed to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the service. We may also receive information you send through contact, support, application, or account-management workflows.
3. Do not submit sensitive taxpayer data
Do not upload, paste, transmit, or request Social Security numbers, Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers, full dates of birth, tax returns, tax transcripts, W-2s, 1099s, identity documents, banking or payment-card details, source documents, authentication codes, or similar sensitive taxpayer information anywhere on My Tax Pros.
Tax-help discovery is limited to a general, privacy-safe description of the service needed. After selecting a professional, use a separate, lawfully configured secure system provided for the engagement. If sensitive information is submitted accidentally, stop using the affected workflow and contact tax@mytaxpros.net without repeating the sensitive information.
4. How we use personal information
We use personal information to create and authenticate accounts; provide customer, member, partner, and administrator workspaces; process applications and approvals; operate the directory, matching, request-routing, saved-professional, Academy, event, marketplace, billing, support, and notification features; and maintain records of user choices and account activity.
We also use information to communicate about an account or request, process and verify transactions, prevent fraud or abuse, enforce access and plan rules, investigate technical or security issues, comply with legal obligations, audit important administrative actions, improve accessibility and usability, and develop the service using aggregated or de-identified insights where practical.
5. How information is disclosed
A customer tax-help request may be reviewed by authorized My Tax Pros administrators and disclosed to an eligible professional when needed to evaluate, assign, respond to, or manage that request. Public member or office profile information is displayed only through the platform's applicable approval and publication controls. Information submitted for a partner, marketplace, event, education, or staffing workflow may be disclosed to an appropriate approved provider when needed to respond to the request.
We may disclose information to service providers that support authentication, hosting, database and file storage, payment processing, email delivery, security, monitoring, and customer support. Those providers receive information only for the services they perform and operate under their own legal and privacy obligations.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process; protect a person, rights, security, property, or the platform; investigate fraud or misuse; enforce an agreement; or support a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or transfer of the business, subject to appropriate safeguards and notice where required.
6. Sale, targeted advertising, and cookies
My Tax Pros does not currently sell or rent personal information, and it does not currently use personal information for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising. If those practices change, this Policy and any legally required choices will be updated before the new practice begins.
The platform uses cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for sign-in, session continuity, security, and core website operation. We do not currently use advertising cookies. Browser settings may block cookies, but blocking essential cookies can prevent authenticated features from working.
7. Retention and deletion
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the service, maintaining account and transaction records, resolving disputes, preventing abuse, preserving security and audit evidence, and meeting legal, tax, accounting, or contractual obligations.
Retention periods differ by record type. A request to delete an account may not require deletion of information that must be retained for legal, fraud-prevention, security, payment, dispute, or audit purposes. When retention is no longer justified, information is deleted, de-identified, or placed beyond ordinary operational use.
8. Privacy choices and rights
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain personal information; to opt out of certain sales, targeted advertising, or profiling; to limit certain uses of sensitive information; or to appeal a decision about a privacy request. Because My Tax Pros does not currently sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, there may be no such processing to opt out of at this time.
Submit a privacy request to tax@mytaxpros.net using the email associated with your account. Describe the request without including taxpayer records. We may verify your identity and authority before acting, and we may deny or limit a request when permitted by law. If an appeal right applies, reply to the decision and state that you are appealing. You may also update available profile information from your account.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed for the nature of the service and information handled, including authenticated access, role and entitlement controls, restricted administrative functions, multi-factor authentication for privileged access, database access policies, payment webhook verification, and audit logging for important actions.
No website, transmission, or storage system is completely secure. Keep account credentials confidential, use a unique password and multi-factor authentication where available, sign out of shared devices, and notify support promptly if you suspect account compromise.
10. Children
My Tax Pros is intended for adults and business users. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. Customer accounts and binding transactions are available only to users who are at least 18 years old or otherwise have legal capacity to agree.
If you believe a child submitted personal information, contact tax@mytaxpros.net without sending additional personal information about the child.
11. Third-party services and external links
The service may link to the IRS, FTC, payment providers, scheduling tools, approved partners, tax professionals, or other third parties. Their websites, services, client portals, and privacy practices are governed by their own notices and agreements. Review them before providing information.
My Tax Pros primarily operates in the United States. Service providers may process information from other locations, subject to their contracts and applicable law.
12. Policy changes and contact
We may update this Policy to reflect legal, security, product, or operational changes. The effective date and version appear above. A material update may be presented through the website, email, or an account notice and may require a new acknowledgment before protected features continue.
For privacy questions, requests, or security notices, contact tax@mytaxpros.net. Do not include taxpayer records, identity documents, financial account information, or other sensitive taxpayer data.
